Yiwu, In 2001 Beijing I would go shopping to a market grocery store for a few beers (cheap and really just a few :O)) and snacks, milk (not a big mover it seems)... there was all sorts of Western junk food including those disgusting Pringles chips, soft drinks, candy bars etc.... There were McDonalds, Starbucks and even Kentucky Fried Chicken! (OK that was HangZhou) whose menus seemed pretty familiar to me... McDonalds was always crowded and was not cheap... Traditional food in restaurants or in those cook your own at the table spots was very reasonable... Quite a few times we stopped and had something :o) on stick or in a bun... but the junk food was there in regular stores I don't know if Walmart was there then ??......
