<you had asked me once, a long time ago, how i could feel good about making moolah from distress, i now can answer definitively, i feel horrid,>

You should not feel horrid. You should feel noble. When nobody else was prepared to pay as much as you were to the distressed or panicked or generally fearful seller, courageous Jack stepped forwards and handed over his hard-earned money to the seller who wished to hand the problem on to somebody else.

Such courage. Such kindness. Such generosity. Such risk-taking daring. Everyone else hung back, but Jack took the plunge.
