Sonic clears 20F registration with USA SEC; Update on first commercial contract

VANCOUVER, Apr 19, 2005 (Canada NewsWire via COMTEX) --
Adam Sumel, President and CEO of Sonic Environmental Solutions Inc. (SNV-TSX Venture Exchange) announces that Sonic has received United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) clearance for its Form 20-F registration statement pursuant to the Securities Exchange Act. As a consequence, Sonic's shares will have increased trading eligibility for US investors.

Mr. Adam Sumel stated, "Completing a US registration should prove to be a significant corporate step. It will allow for the introduction of Sonic's proprietary Sonoprocess(TM) technology and our growth strategy to a much wider investor audience."

In connection with Sonic's initial commercial contract, the British Columbia Ministry of Water, Land, and Air Protection confirmed that Sonic has successfully complied with requirements under the Hazardous Waste Regulations of the Environmental Management Act. In doing so, Sonic has demonstrated the effectiveness of its proprietary Sonoprocess(TM) to treat hazardous soil containing PCB. Before the commencement of commercial operations Sonic was required to comply with Section 4 of this statute and needed to receive the required air permit from the Greater Vancouver Regional District. Sonic has now received all required regulatory clearances and, as such, the Company will soon commence commercial throughput with its first-of-a-kind, mobile plant for PCB soil remediation. Commissioning of this recently deployed plant is almost complete and Sonic expects to commence operating the commercial contract (approximately 3000 tons) for PCB destruction in a matter of days thereafter.

The commercially contracted PCB-contaminated site will be the first ever to be remediated of PCB contamination using the Company's on-site Sonoprocess(TM), which eliminates the cost and liability of transportation of hazardous waste to a fixed holding or incineration facility. Mr. Sumel further commented, "We believe Sonic's PCB destruction technology may revolutionize the way contaminated soils are remediated. Our modular Sonoprocess transportable facility has made us the leading solution to this global environmental problem. Further, our mobile plant has provided us with a competitive advantage by avoiding the risks and increased costs associated with fixed facility applications. Sonic's technology will permit us to compete for contracts on a world-wide basis."
