Interwoven was among the select companies that Forrester invited to participate in its 2005 Forrester Wave report, "The Forrester Wave: Web Content Management, Q1 2005." In this evaluation, Forrester gave Interwoven high marks for its focus on delivering highly-targeted and content-centric WCM solutions that appeal to both IT and business professionals; intranet support; unique multistage code and content distribution; and strong support for automated content classification and metadata extraction.

According to the report authored by Forrester analyst Kyle McNabb, Interwoven's new LiveSite Web Content Publishing capabilities significantly increase the ease of use and intranet support from which organizations can benefit: "The addition of LiveSite will appeal to IT organizations looking to centralize site management of Web sites while enabling their line-of-business counterparts to more actively manage their sites and content."(1)

This ease of use is especially critical as the demand for WCM continues to increase. According to Forrester, WCM is on the rise, "driven by the Web's role as a primary means of interaction with customers, partners, and employees, as well as by a renewed corporate interest in eBusiness investments." In fact, according to a recent survey conducted by Forrester, "84 percent of enterprise-class organizations plan to increase their WCM deployments to address evolving needs and to consolidate sites and departmental intranets."(1)

Further, as organizations plan to expand their WCM initiatives, Forrester cautions them to closely evaluate a vendor's ability to effectively meet both their Internet and intranet needs as vendors' strengths vary.(2) However, Interwoven is highlighted in the report as an example of a WCM vendor that provides "comprehensive Web content management capabilities in support of external and internal site initiatives."(1)

"Having a WCM system designed to meet the needs of our global Web initiatives is critical, and Interwoven provides us with that unique flexibility," said Mindy Shin, director of global e-business technology at Mercer Human Resource Consulting. "Further, Interwoven LiveSite is able to provide self service functionality for our non-technical business users, giving them the ability to rapidly create and deploy websites themselves. This results in an increased competitive advantage for Mercer and our websites since we can more effectively ensure that all of our content is deployed in 'web time,' while also reducing development operational costs."

Interwoven TeamSite software and LiveSite provide the foundation for content-centric solutions that Interwoven is bringing to market to address the complete range of enterprises' WCM needs including Internet, intranet and extranet initiatives. Comprised of pre-built components and design templates based on best practice implementations across vertical industries -- including financial services, manufacturing, retail and telecommunications -- Interwoven's highly-targeted WCM solutions enable enterprises to more quickly and cost-effectively deploy new Web initiatives targeted at customers, partners, employees or other business-critical audiences.

"As the original pioneer of WCM technology, Interwoven continues to lead the market when it comes to delivering the industry's most comprehensive, easiest to use, and innovative WCM products and solutions," said Kevin Cochrane, vice president, WCM products and solutions at Interwoven. "We're thrilled to receive such affirmation from Forrester as we continue to raise the bar not only for content publishing and usability, but for bringing to market pre-packaged, best-in-class solutions that help organizations effectively tackle their business-critical Web initiatives."
