I tried to convince Kerry's #3 guy to immediately come forward and hold a press conference offering to answer all Smearvet charges with the truth, and prove it. They could have but they didn't. Kerry elected to not be tricked into going off-message. He was right and wrong. He was damned if he did or didn't. That's why smear campaigns sometimes work, because if anyone's a big enough A-hole to start a smear campaign without concern for the truth, they know they can at least distract the public from the real issues. No one is more experienced at smear campaigns that karl Rove. He was behind the whole thing.
