There's nothing wrong with concentrating your research in this sector. Where it gets myopic is when the people doing the research seem to think that the sector is the entire market.

It is not.

Furthermore this sector is so economically sensitive that it cannot be expected to outperform except at those times that the entire market has sold off and then begins to rebound as it is doing now.

You want to make good money here with almost no risk?

Wait for the yield curve to go negative. Go long then. The FED and the Federal Government will be jumping all over each other with new ways to stimulate the economy.

How about today?

The problem with chasing performance is that while there is always a hot sector (even in a bear market) the best performance might be from simply selling the worst sector short once a market top is in.

And it is in.
