Peter, "It is understandable that Doctors want to use lab results generated in their own lab. It means they have consistent results. Their organization is in charge of quality control. Most Doctors are reluctant to release the lab results to patients." YES! A resounding YES to all of the above. And who can blame them? "How many times does one patient see ten different doctors in rapid succession and get ten different CBCs?" Rarely, unless the CBC is being monitored for response to a given treatment. "Even if a CBC is only $6, there are other duplicated results." I may be carbon-dating myself, but I remember when CBCs did cost only that much. <g> "Another reason is because it is a profit center." I could be wrong, but I believe physicians are forbidden from accepting "kickbacks." They may own diagnostic facilities in part or in whole, but such must be disclosed to patients they refer to any facilities in which they have a financial interest. - Holly
