Sure, the hyperpower-to-small-nation dynamic is there between the US and Canada, you might properly think of that as useful, and not irritating ... practice up on us, and eventually you may build the skills to talk to the french ... frustrating though that may be, you know how those people are, they don't even have a statue of Liberty, or a word for entrepreneur ... but canucks should be the easiest for you, look how related we are, a language in common and more trade ties than any other two nations anywhere - we were the model for the common market in the fifties ... remember that we act for you where your own presence is disturbing, this happened a lot during the cold war, for instance the tripartite commission on Viet Nam in '54, then our Mike invented peacekeeping for your Ike in '56 when Egypt was invaded, and our ambassador got fifty-odd of your folks out of Iran in '79 ... for quite a while there we had a name as honest brokers, i'm not sure our present brain trust is capable of this, but we hope to change them soon, and the new ones could maybe be cultivated

Wilson was actually a racist who liked to have his marines beat up on latinos ... he invaded México pretty much just for the hell of it, Panamá, Cuba, Haiti, and he kept Nicaragua occupied for the greater glory of United Fruit, everywhere he went people were killed and/or robbed of their lands for the benefit of his favoured elite ... at the time however nothing south of the río Bravo was known north of the forty-ninth parallel, the meaningful action was considered to be that in Europe, where the inhabitants happened to enjoy recognition as human beings ... his fourteen points were pretty good points, a fine target, and were supported by Canada - we had a seat at Versailles, following Vimy and the Last Hundred Days, and lobbied for a number of his points, also for his concept of the League of Nations, in our self interest certainly, still for that of the species as well

And that's the difference with Bush ... you don't see out of the neocons any suggestion that life-and-death decisions could be made outside the back rooms of Washington, or consider input from anyone outside their clique ... of course Wilson did not have his mind hobbled by hyperpower status, still he led a powerful and rising nation, yet he stood up for the right to representation and self-determination of peoples, as long as they weren't brown folks or something

McCain is impressive yes, Bayh i don't know, Hillary nah, Giuliani was hired by el DF as a crime consultant, worthy of respect imho ... Powell yes, Lieberman mmm wanna think about it, Ahnold maybe, let's see how his politics sort out ... there's a repub named Ron Paul, makes too much sense in some ways to be in government maybe but should be considered imho ... Jeffords, possibly ... actually i don't know enough detail on current players to expand the choice, it's hard enough to keep track of the ones here ... anyway, the total number of north american politicians in any of these three nations that i unconditionally support is zero [0.00], they're all shades of grey, it's a human thing i guess eh

I see myself as quite objective on 'israel/arab' [better put as 'foreigner/indigenous + exclusivist/human' imho], and not at all demonising, in fact all my comment on the matter is to counter Nadine's constant demonising of the arab ... there is just something about blindered partisanship that takes effect on the typing fingers, hard to say why ... but if you don't want to talk about it, then let's don't ... and i really only happened by yesterday to report on the pope, so folks could turn on their telly, then ss' post was the last, and 'you people' did refer to whatever party ss and/or that writer felt they belonged ... but if you people really get off on it, i promise to include the term in every future post -g- .... cheers.
