I think it is impossible for some parents not to indoctrinate their children. Try to see it from their point of view. If you were absolutely certain, as some people are, that your child was going to hell if they didn't believe XY and Z, or if they didn't do AB and C, then you might be a little desperate for your kid to believe that, or do that. And some people are absolutely and completely sure. I don't see what else they can do, really. I know you see the kids as trapped, but the parents are equally trapped- I don't know what else they could do, given what they believe.

Kid Rock doesn't sound like one of those people- he sounds considerably more open, but even if he were, I think it is completely understandable.
