That is Exactly the Right Point John. The Daisy Chain whereby they ship us goods and they agree to take dollars in exchange works to their benefit as long as we keep taking their goods. Like the heroin addict, the US is only useful to China as long as we keep buying the stuff. This I think is your point, because, if that changes, then, exactly as you say---"the strategy loses the appeal for them." Check. So THEN what happens? Well, they already used some of their foreign reserves to clean up part of their banking system. And we pretty much know they are using dollars to buy some commodities. They could do more of the same? Because we know now, John, that China needs no missile to sink the US. All they'd have to do is send an impossible Sell Order down the wire to Chicago, and, that's all she wrote. Now, it's hard to imagine such an action being in their interest.
