A hypothetical questions for you Nadine and anyone else who wants to chime in based on Chris Parsons assertation that our support of Israel was responsible for 9/11 and probably the Tsunami as well if you read islamic fundamentalist publications.

Question. In 1948, a deal is cut where the Jews leave Israel and go somewhere where they live in peace forever. Perhaps they could all fit on Marcos farm. (a joke Marcos) Perhaps Bob Dylan could change the lyrics of one of his most famous songs to "I aint gonna work on Marcos farm no more" (g)

All kidding aside it would be very interesting if you could trace middle eastern history thru the cold war and beyond with the above hypothetical in mind. A few of my opinions below for starters.

1. Cold War would have led to competition for arab support and the US would find itself in bed with the same old despots.
2. With israel not there to check soviet expansionism, the US would be hard pressed to manage multiple worldwide crisis.
3. Israel as a great source of intel.
