I have an interesting story

we have a neighbor we call 'the tree hugger', for she is perpetually railing on environmental issues and animal rights

the other nite at a neighborhood campfire she got her shoes full as she droned on about the diminishing habituate for birds and frogs, all wildlife [of which we have an abundance here even though we are more city than country] - how people are neglectful of animal quality of life, how we treat animals, how no one cares and on and on

it started to rain, but was our warmest night, so someone ran in and got ponchos for everyone, so we could continue enjoying the fire, the night, sipping wine and roasting marshmallows, making s'mores

the tree hugger had brought her dog and leashed him to a tree

he was getting wetter and wetter as she denounced the treatment of animals, till her poor dog was in wet whimpers

finally I said, tree hugger, take your poor dog home

oh yeah, she said, I spose I should

funny how you can't see the forest through the trees when you're standing on the soapbox
