"Having lived it for the first 30 years of my life, it seems to me that Catholicism works best when life is harsh.
Here is what I found about your faithful requirements regarding the Pope when you claim Catholicism (Please let me know if this is inaccurate):
There are three conditions that must be met in order for something that the Pope says to be guaranteed by the Holy Spirit to be true: 1.) It must really be the Pope who’s saying it, not somebody else. 2.) He must be saying something about the faith or about morals, not something about economics, politics, or events. 3.) He must be saying something AS THE POPE, not on his own personal behalf.
The Church gets this guarantee that it will receive this help from the Holy Spirit according to the following biblical doctrine:
John 14:26: “But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.”
Matthew 28:19-20 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
John 16:13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. |
