... I prefer to stick with actual topics, or issues of interest --- not personalities --- and I make it my practice (easy to confirm with anyone who's been around here for years) to *never* be the first to engage in a personal attack, not the first to hurl pointless, childish insults, and not to 'go obscene'.
On the other-hand, I have no compunctions against counter-punching, defending myself when falsely attacked, nor against using exactly the same (with the exception of obscenity) mode of attack that's employed against me. (Some people can't stand to be served exactly what they dish up though....)
There *is* a difference between self-defense and being a bully, as I'm sure you know, or should know.
I enjoy a brisk debate, don't relish 'yes-men' or need to associate myself with people who always agree with me... and I don't mind revising my views (happens often) if someone comes up with convincing superior evidence or superior logic. In fact --- although there are many positions I hold that I believe in deeply, having in some cases spent a lifetime thinking about them, there is *nothing*, no belief I hold, that I wouldn't revise or replace if faced with a more convincing case, superior evidence, etc.
Dogmatic, I'm not.
So... what's your major malfunction? |
