Hi rrufff,

Excellent information.... MMs and professional outfits have a host of advantages over retailers, and shorting is one general area.

But I think it should be pointed out that for all practical purposes, retail traders cannot be involved in naked shorting. My understanding is that this is not technically illegal, just highly impractical and improbable or next to impossible for retailers. Certainly it cannot be done via the usual ways to short using online brokers.
