How has Israel EVER "Checked Soviet expansionism"?? By winning wars against Soviet clients. If Syria & Egypt & Jordan had destroyed Israel in 1967, it would have been a clear victory for Soviet clients and an expansion of USSR sphere of influence. The three countries would then have divided the corpse of Israel between them, just as they did with the land they took in 1948. There would have been no nonsense about "Palestine"; was there any "Palestine" when Jordan held the West Bank or Egypt held Gaza?
