Try the liberal coasts! Even the Dallas Fort Worth area has a heavy vegan/vegetarian contingent. Portland Oregon has whole vegan neighborhoods. I think it will take awhile--the International Vegan Society thinks maybe 2050 for most people to become vegan. Don't forget that mad cow is here and spreading quietly while the government tries to keep it secret. It take years to really become obvious. Millions of Britons became vegetarian when it did there. And 24% of American college students demand vegan/vegetarian cafeteria lines in their dorms. This is a movement led by the younger Americans, so yes, it will take awhile. I don't care if everyone becomes vegetarian, but I do think factory farming should be fully exposed so people can decide for themselves if they support it.

Did you see the movie Supersize Me yet? Have you ever seen a movie about factory farming? Do you know what it actually entails--the level of cruelty you support when you buy meat? I can recommend one if you'd like to just consider some of the larger realities.
