This is mulesing. If you use any wool clothing or slippers or whatever, you support and perpetrate this practice:

animal-lib.org.au

Factory farm chickens aren't healthy by any means. They are pumped full of growth hormones (possibly implicated in human cancers) to grow much faster than naturally, to save money. They are pumped full of antibiotics (this is probably why human diseases are becoming resistant to antibiotics). They live their entire lives in an area less the size of a piece of printer paper. They never even can flap their wings. Imagine living your whole life in a cage with fifty other humans, so small you couldn't bend your elbows! It is the ame thing. Many die from dehydration or starvation when they get stuck in cage wires. Dead and living chickens living right together. Farmers accept huge loss of chicken life in a calculated equation. The farmers' lobby is so powerful that in America chickens have been exempted from any rules whatsoever for humane treatment.
