How do you figure?

From what I've been reading, they discuss events that occur after anyone who would've known Jesus would've been alive, and Jesus' disciples were his contemporaries... so unless they were edited and appended to, the Gospels weren't written by Jesus' disciples.

It also is pretty fishy that there was a hell of a lot of writing and record-keeping done in the Roman Empire, and a lot in Palestine at the time, and no contemporary documents mention Jesus.
