It's not enough that i may think Harper would do a good job, or do the least worst job of the available choices, it is also necessary that he is able to convince a whole lot of other people that he will do a good/least-worst job ... charisma wouldn't be the exact term for that ability, probably, neither would be 'popularity' imho
Trust, that's probably the best word ... you have to trust them on honesty in the corruption front, trust them to not get too radical on some whacko policy front, and trust their competence to carry on general government in reasonably efficient and fair manner in the meantime .... but for them to even get there, you have to trust their ability to sway a plurality of voters, their electability ... this becomes yet more important when they don't have the best-oiled machine in the race
Not that i think Harper doesn't have electability, relatively speaking, just musing on the possibility ... it would be good to hear from Sofa and Gulo on all this ... it's such a messy business, democracy, eh |
