There are good reasons why some people want to be taken care of by the state. Many people are worried about their limitations when it comes to financial planning- not because they are stupid, or lazy, but because they are busy, and they can't imagine taking on another thing to manage. I can understand that. That is the appeal of socialism. Not everyone wants the freedom to fail, or the freedom to lose a lot of money. Lots of people would rather keep the system we have (and pay more for it)- and rest easy at night without worrying about investing. It's not (imo) wrong- it's simply a different way to look at things.
