Does the Bible really go in to all that much detail about the location of Nazareth? Its possible that the place that was later called Nazareth in modern times or in 1099, is not the same place as the original Nazareth. Either that or Nazareth could have only been a small hamlet in the 1st century, with its relative importance in the Bible and church tradition being due to its status as Jesus' home town, rather then it being signifigant in size.

First of all, the bible makes such statements as Joseph and Mary came out of Galilee from the city of Nazareth. They describe Jesus as being raised in the city of Nazareth.

I suppose anything is possible. However, where it is alleged to have been, there is no there there. Franciscan monks have been digging for years and have found very little that suggests a city existed there during the time of Jesus. In fact, it doesn't look like there was even a village.

Its really amazing. I have asked a couple of friends who were raised Christian if they had any hint that there was reason to doubt that Jesus existed or that Nazareth might be fictional. They all were stunned by the news that both those possibilities might exist.

And I am also amazed that no one challenged the atheist on CNN when she made her claim.
