It has its roots in the 19th century, but has failed to take hold even among secular circles. Hence my statement that there are no new "facts" ... just more people willing to believe them. Of course, to me the more extraordinary claim is that Jesus never existed, and that billions of Christians around the world are indeed believing in (and getting martyred due to) one massive hoax.
