R. D., I saw all those shows we mentioned in reruns on the classic movie channels. So there! <g>

I loved the Smothers Brothers, Laugh-In, and Glenn Campbell shows. I would have to say that the Smothers brothers were lots, lots funnier before they got so preachy. Unlike Laugh-In, the Smothers Brothers were not equal opportunity bashers, listing waaaay to the left with their bashing of the right.

Ed Sullivan's show has shown up on PBS recently. Remember that dude with his "You can do it, Louie!" dog? That was one of the funniest animal routines I have EVER seen! That dog had to have had bunches of training to be able to do what it didn't do.

I wish PBS would pick up some of the other variety shows of the 1950s and 1960s, such as the above. Alas, they are probably too dated, and much of the humor would fall flat with the younger set, such as Laz and me. <g> - Holly
