The women who did not want privatization is right to question whether there will be any Social Security benefits for her when she retires. How does privatization ensure that there will be? I am under the impression it does not. One issue that has not been addressed is that the U.S. is so debt ridden now thanks to Bush that the Asians are threatening to stop investing in dollars. If that happens on a large scale, our currency will become almost worthless, and other cataclysmic financial events will occur. What security does a privatized account bring you if the dollar is almost worthless and the American economy is in ruins? So far no one that I know of is linking Social Security and this scenario, but I think they should be.
