Z, Well, you know, this is what's going to happen if religion becomes more and more a public thing -- its underlying tenets are going to be scrutinized, and I don't think it can hold up. a) Post-modernism is desperately trying to make religion more of a "private thing." Not a good thing if you want religion to be exposed to public scrutiny. b) Most Americans still believe in God. I'd wager most Europeans do as well, or at least in the supernatural. That points to a deep spiritual need within humans, even among those living in the post-modern world. c) Atheism has offered nothing but false promises of freedom and enlightment. What it actually leads to is either the worst horrors mankind could ever imagine, or the depressive state of nihilism and meaninglessness.
