a19-

you can do that? boy am I out to lunch - do you have
any recommendations before I go to Google and try this
at home?...I've got boxes of albums...good ones.

you're going to have to go to google anyway...
it requires wires and softwares and there are
many options for the set up and recording
format.

i'd suggest digitizing them straight to .mp3s
and not worry about using a sound editor to
take out scratches and pops. otherwise you
could spend an hour on each track. you'll want
them to retain the vinyl sound anyway. that
gives them character and history, eh?

be sure to record each track separately though,
so you can build compilations of your favorites
on CDs.

there are companies who will do this for you
but it's damn expensive because it's a time consuming
process. it's cheaper to buy mass produced CDs
of the albums if you can find them. "oneway ticket
to paradise" is not available on CD... at least
not until i get the transfer made. ;-)

make a couple of test recordings first before you
do a lot of them so you can get the record levels
set just right. you want to record at the highest
signal level you can get BELOW THE LEVEL WHERE YOU
START TO GET DISTORTION on the peaks.

ps- looks like this is the geek thread today, eh?
