That's a big part of the problem, I agree. Can you imagine how many children would demand Mc Nuggets if they had to slay the chicken first?

I don't see how captive deer could be worth hunting. After all, it misses the whole point. Sick deer shouldn't be eaten, but I've never seen one. Herds that are not hunted regularly can become sick, unless there are plenty of predators available.
