CWD has been a big story locally for the past few years, as you might judge from perusing jsonline.com and jsonline.com . But CJD is rare and has a very long incubation period, so any linkage is going to be very hard to verify. In England, where one would presume a lot more people ate mad cows that will ever eat CWD deer, there were 1000 CJD deaths over the last 15 years, see cjd.ed.ac.uk .
