What Annie Jacobsen Found Out
by Mark Noonan Blogs for Bush
You might recall Annie Jacobsen from last year; her story circulated 'round the web about how she noted very strange behaviour on the part of some men (who turned out to be Syrian) during an airline flight. At first, it was a pretty huge story, but then it died down as the "official" word came out that the Syrian's were just musicians who, while strange, posed no threat. Fair enough; except that Ms. Jacobsen was interviewed by Federal agents recently, and among the things she discovered were these items:
<<<
Two months prior to the flight, the FBI issued a warning that, based on credible information, terrorist organizations might try to hide their members behind P visas -- cultural or sports visas -- to gain entry into the United States. The Syrians entered the United States on P-3 cultural visas, which they overstayed...
...While being interviewed at Los Angeles Airport (LAX), none of the federal law enforcement agencies involved noticed that the men's visas were expired. >>>
If true, then this indicates a great deal of slipshod work on the part of our security agencies; but, for me, the larger question is: why were Syrians granted any sort of visa? Syria is an enemy nation during time of war, so why are we allowing Syria's citizens easy access to our country? We've really got to get a lot more serious about this sort of thing...but I fear that only 3,000 more American dead will convince the political class of the United States to act.
