Spotted cat....."Lorne I think you read too much propaganda"...

I don't recall ever reading anything that said Quebec citizens would have to learn english if a separation were to occur.....not saying there wasn't something just that I don't recall any.....thought I dreamed that up all on my own.

In any case I was not really referring to large corporations as they are aware that english appears to be the working language of the business world. I was thinking more of the little people like me who know only one language..in my case english and for lots of common people in Quebec it is French.

In most of Canada many jobs filled by common folks require that they be bi-lingual...gov. jobs....hospitals...etc etc.

You said...."They have no problem now... gimme a break if you think folks in Toronto learn French to deal in Quebec to any huge extent except att eh lower customer service level maybe"...

No I don't think the common folks in Toronto learn French to deal with common folks from Quebec but a lot of people in may areas of this country on this level do exactly that by enrolling their kids in french emersion but I do believe on a corporate level this is exactly what happens....it is the law in a lot of cases.

And......... except att eh lower customer service level maybe"... This IMO is a very very important level as it is where most of the population lives.

I guess what I am getting at is the fact that for many years now so called English Canada has been learning French to accommodate the French language and make this a bi-lingual country and I doubt that this would continue if Quebec people should decide to form a new country.

You said....One of my little sisters is a president of a steel company in Quebec and her big bosses are in Ontario.. Ya think they speak French to her ?"....

I have no idea but tell me something are her bosses capable of speaking to her in French?
