After careful consideration, I decided to condense my response. Please look at the following reasons why I hunt (or would like to be able to hunt) as the beginning of an entire "tree" of derivatives branching out into further reasons, each branching further, each of which is worthy of an entire book-length treatment. Neither of us have that much time, therefore I condense.

I hunt because:

1. Hunting is a primal urge, without which the human race would have disappeared long ago. This is reason number one. All the others are as they come to mind, and are not necessarily in priority order.
2. Hunting reminds me that I am a fully-fledged segment of the ecosystem, not just an eater of chicken McNuggets.
3. Hunting grounds my spirit.
4. Hunting keeps me humble.
5. Hunting excites me.
