"why are good young American boys and girls, young men and women still dying in Iraq.....or becoming horribly maimed for life...for what.....?"

The iraqis are mucking things up themselves now by their failure to create a government. The Kurds in particular are a problem because their ultimate agenda may be to become more like an Israel than a federal part of iraq. I see today that the US is taking a more active role to convince the iraqis to move forward and i think that means pressuring the Kurds to accept the shiaa PM. A three state solution may be inevitable and may be better than a failed state run my terrorists or baath criminals but it is not the best outcome for US FP today. So your question will take on more importance as time goes on and solutions are not found. The PM thing should have been solved months ago. The new wave of terror is in direct response to the lack of a central govt. Bastards scoring points again so your question becomes more important again. mike
