Iran's position has consistently been that the enrichment is their right according to the treaties and international law and they will not give it up. What they are willing to negotiate about are the fail safe mechanisms to assure their peaceful intentions. In that regards the news you've cited is not contradictory.

Primarily Iran has proposed two kinds of compromise: (1) they are willing to agree to a reduced capacity and a monitoring regime (cameras, inspections, etc). (2) they have suggested that the enrichment facility be a joint multinational corporation so that direct international supervision is built into its activities. Both solutions seem reasonable to countries whose names does not begin with a vowel.
