< it is not an excuse to misstate the facts in a text book to the point where as i understand it, folks in japan believe the US caused WW2 by nuking H&N. >

Michael, if you ask a bunch of Americans [especially young ones] what caused the start of WWI, or WWII for that matter, they wouldn't have a clue. Most think [if they have a clue at all] that Japan started WWII by, out of the blue, for no reason whatsoever, taking it into their silly heads to sail across the Pacific Ocean to attack the USA fleet at Pearl Harbour.

In fact, the US caused the Japanese component of WWII by blockading Japan. Japan had been happily building an East Asia Co-prosperity Sphere before the rude intrusion by the gaijin. It had been going swimmingly for a couple of decades, having seen off the British from the area and having taken over quite a lot. Sure, they had to suppress the slightest opposition but that's the nature of empire building - the USA took over the Philippines and that wasn't a gentle process. China won't be able to take over Taiwan without a lot of killing if they show up on the shores with a load of military equipment.
