The atrocities in German mattered -- and we know them. Our children know them. German children know them -- and knowing them is part of the process of ensuring they never happen again. No such knowledge is available to Japanese children. Atrocities like what happened in Germany, and like what happened in China, must never ever be swept under the carpet. And that is exactly what Japan has done -- and it is no accident. The Chinese have every reason to be outraged -- and their outrage is genuine.
