I spoke with Ralph J. Guarino a bit earlier. Not much solid news yet. He did mention that the Rockville restaurant, (which had declining earnings after the grand opening period), beat the year ago numbers for the first time last month. Not a whole lot of certainty on the opening of new Backrooms. If all goes well with the Chicago plans, maybe November 1997 opening. There are tentative plans for 4 more Backrooms; if my memory serves me well - Boston, Baltimore, DC and Philadelphia? The Grand Casino is still chugging along with its Backroom plans. Not likely to see financial impact or earnings potential till mid 1998. There has been franchise interest but that will not happen till there are a handfull of Backrooms operating. There has been very positive feedback from the customers of the Backroom. Will be interesting to see how stand alone Backrooms are received.
