I have cats. So I don't have any mice. They don't kill them--just their presence discourages mice from settling. Tonight I reminded Grainnette that we open the back door and escort big old buzzing kitchen flies outside, or just wait until they go on their own. She thought it was simpler to just kill the fly, but they live for such a short period of time, anyway. When a spider is making a web in the kitchen, one of the menfolk catches it in a glass and sets the glass outside until the next day, or whenever the spider decides to disembark for spiderly pleasures.

Now I don't know exactly what you are implying with your statement about we have both killed the same number of animals in the last ten years. Is it just about hunting? If you have not killed an animal by hunting in the last ten years, that may be true, because I certainly have not, either. But if you are just talking about how many animals' deaths we each have been responsible for, I believe I would win. I rarely ate red meat even when I was not vegetarian, subsisting mostly on tuna, salmon and a bit of chicken. So unless you are a closet vegetarian, I am betting that more animals have died to feed you than to feed me.
