"These results reflect long term competitive advantages and high entry barriers."

1)After the fact analysis. They did well, therefore they had a competitive advantage. Also not defined. What was that advantage/barrier? What is it now? (both rhetorical questions).

2) I actually had a small investment in SFAM once upon a time. Made a little money, only because I was lucky enough to bail before it became obvious that they did not have an advantage.
A quick glance at AMAT chart doesn't give me confidence in its ability to make me money. While I didn't access a chart that went back to its IPO, my suspicion is that such a chart would show that I would have made a lot of money if I had invested in it long before any advantage or barrier was discernable and then sold in 2000-right about when I sold SFAM. I further suspect that the above statement is true about vitually every tech stock in existence.

3) John Fowler doesn't post a lot, at least on the threads I read. However, it has been my observation that he is one of the good guys.

4) I don't post a lot either. It's rare (like never) that I have knowledge or information not generally available to everyone. I sometimes have opinions, but mostly keep them to myself.

5) I usually don't take exception to another posters language. Either the person is obviously obnoxious and I immediately ignore, or they are not and I just read the post.

6) Oh who cares. This is taxing my typing patience.
...."a mind that produces the above"....
A turned phrase that convinces me that I will have to soldier on without benefit of your input. No big deal.
Good luck to you in your investments going forward.
