If a company does well for over 20 years, it is reasonable to believe they were in growth markets and they had a competitive advantage. The investor must be able to understand what happened, to understand why the markets grew and what the competitive advantages were. Then the investor must be able to evaluate the current situation to determine if the factors that led to market growth and competitive advantages still exist and if they have a good chance of persisting into the future. These requirements are not easily met. Most investors don't understand sufficiently and most situations are very difficult to understand.

I offered 8 companies that have a long track record to study. I have been fortunate in that I have studied all of them in minute detail for about 15 years, and my educational and professional backgrounds have been somewhat connected to these companies. Also, for 29 years, I have lived where almost all of these companies are located.

I am on this thread to determine if I might add SNDK to my list of 8. I believe that people on this thread have answers about SNDK, but I must make them understand the right questions by making them understand my investment criteria and why I think my 8 meet them.
