What you said just isn't true, Ish. The contracts between Iraq and the United States exactly forbid Iraqi farmers from planting their own seeds that they saved. This seems outrageous, but it is exactly what Monsanto is doing, and why third world countries are lining up and organizing to protest these agricultural practices.
