re your comment about how existing home sales were "previously reported" in categories but no longer are. Not true, Elroy. Until recently, NAR reported only a composite total sales figure. NOW it is reporting both the total composite number and also breaking down the numbers for each category--single family vs. condo/coop. More information is being reported, not less as you seemed to imply. You can compare the latest news release with previous releases to see this is true by clicking on archived news releases at realtor.org
