One reference of the word country doesn't really mean a lot and in any case Nadine already effectively answered that post.

As far as I can tell the Palestinians didn't have much of a national identity before the creation of Israel, or even immediately after. They thought of themselves as Arabs to the extent that they had a national identity, but I do agree that they had some sense of connection to the land, even if it was more of a family connection, or a connection as a clan or or other sub-national political or social unit. To the extent that they where forced off their land they would feel violated.
