I don't know enough to make recommendations, but there are cheap ways and expensive ways to see Alaska. If you are adventuresome, you can save a lot of money. A good way to start would be to book a ferry trip from Bellingham to Skagway and back. You'll see the Inside Passage as well as from a cruise ship, for about 1/10th the cost.

Start slow. Get a feel for it before getting too far afield. Alaska will kill you without batting an eye. amazon.com
