In 1995, I had business in Anchorage. I planned to ride up to Sitka from Seattle with a friend on his longliner, then fly to Anchorage for my business. He got delayed rigging the boat, which was just as well, as he got pressed for time and instead of taking the inside passage, in the lee of Vancouver Island, he went up the outside. Everyone on this little 65' boat was seriously seasick in the 20' swells.

I flew to Anchorage, then down to Sitka, where I met him at the fuel dock (after a two day wait, trying to raise him on the single sideband). Hopped on board and we cut across the Gulf of Alaska for a 2 1/2 day trip to Seward. It was an incredible trip that I will never forget.
