American First. When I write these two words what I experience is the feeling that we should be taking care of our own people first. We have so many internal problems... not publicized excepting by reporting as 60 Minutes did the other night pointing out that huge slum or ghetto existed just a few blocks from the Nation's Capital.. Essentially the report focused on the good that was being done by an environmental corp that was recruiting and utilizing the manpower...out of work blacks,single parent mothers to accomplish projects that enhanced their community and also paid them wages. We need a Peace Corp here. The medical system is defunct. When a report shows the care that be obtained at foreign hospitals for half the costs it is en lighting but disheartening that we cannot do that here. Our crime rate... Two children have been murdered here in Florida in the past month by sex offenders who were not being checked up on. Our society has many ills that need attention and the money to support projects to enable a cure. Yet, we are more interested in defending our interests abroad,bringing Demo racy to a Country where those elected are being killed as one congressional elected official was slain this morning. Did we really need to do this.. And no WMD... sad. There is an imbalance somewhere. The tax burden borne by the middle class. The hug inequities in the distribution of money and power. Interesting tidbit ...the other day on radio the question was asked.. where would you find shoplifters,bankrupted persons in debt..and the list went on.. The answer was our representatives in Congress and the Senate. They are not the most trustworthy lily white reputation free people we think they are... At any rate.. MY RANT... I know that. It is just painful to see so much money go abroad to whomever when there is such a need for it here. How about our borders and the illegal immigrants who crossing over daily. I believe a nation's strength comes from within. Not to be a Wilsonian but I do not see that it is not right we bleed ourselves to finance other countries... America First. What do you think.?
