I think I read that people who described themselves as "evangelicals" were 20% of voters in the last election. That's a nice firm block, but by playing to that crowd, the Reps are risking a backlash by a significant percentage of the other 30% of voters that supported them in '04. They are sort of stuck; the evangelicals think they got Bush elected. If the Reps don't pander to them, the evangelicals might not show up at the polls in '06. John
