Re: cheap labor in mainland China is "backfiring" because their manufacturing technology is relatively wasteful with regards to crude - so indirectly the cheap imports jack up the crude I have read various accounts of this, and it is entirely logical, especially after seeing how inefficient everything is in the far east.
