On --- "It's time for America to start building Nuclear power plants again," Bush said. - The price of green policies are destroying America, they want ‘green’ but they want their SUV’s and maintain one of the their highest per capita consumption of energy in the world, they want their cake and eat it too- America has not ordered a new nuclear power plant since the 1970s. France has built 58 plants in the same period and today France gets more than 78 percent of its electricity from nuclear power.
"See, we've got a fundamental question we got to face here in America," Bush said. "Do we want to continue to grow more dependent on other nations to meet our energy needs? Or, do we need to do what is necessary to achieve greater control of our economic destiny?"
"It's time for America to start building again," he said.
Too much of a regulated society has put Americans on the mercy of oil rich nations. If Europeans can build larger planes without concerns of Greens or Kyoto and better Nuclear reactors with far fewer emissions hence maintaining them within limits of Kyoto with per capita highest consumption of electrify and energy hence cutting their dependency on oil, and even conservative Britain acquires 22 percent of its energy through Nuclear power with 28 percent from coal and only 1 percent from furnace oil rest of it from gas, why can’t Americans cut through this non sense of regulatory framework and build plants? Just announcements of plants alone will bring the oil prices down, it is not ‘lack of oil’ that is causing problems, it is the ‘lack of refined products’ that is choking the economic recovery, this spending on oil takes huge chunks of spending power out of the society, since consumption of oil finally leads to transfers of proceeds it is not the good consumption within.
The price of green policies are destroying America, liberal/environmentalists want ‘green/ sustainable’ but they want their SUV’s too and they maintain one of the highest per capita consumption of energy in the world, they want their cake and eat it too.
Regulation is their pet word; deregulation is ours or Reagan’s for that matter. Naturally, massive guidelines in refining oil that deters oil refineries create bottlenecks, huge directives against building nuclear powers creates power sources dependent on furnace oil and imported products, it is high time someone should address these imbalances and correct them.
The contemporary society has the ability to manage risk properly, we manage risks far greater than nuclear plants in our every day living, even when driving risks are far greater and disproportionate imagine a tire burst on a fast moving highway, how many times it happens actually, whereas 100 m cars takes on roads every day globally, we have been to curtail risk by technical management of risk that makes it a pleasure and comfort. Nuclear energy is safer and have now gone into maturity in Europe, where France has become the master of the trade so has Britain. It is all about risk and reward calculations, and so far experiments n Europe depict that rewards are great, the greens have to become friendlier to the causes that will impact basic livelihood of Americans.
Americans after three miles lost to the liberal agenda, now is the time to work a plan, let’s make the size of the cake bigger not cut the size of the cake and economize on our living. Although cutting consumption /capita of energy is the best course but it is the course that no one practices but every one is high on, typical hypocrisy, and therefore not worth cyber specks to be wasted, the future of energy is through particle physics, fission now fusion later, it is in Hydrogen where it lays our salvation.
"Around seven years ago, when the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider was being built at the Brookhaven National Laboratory in New York, there was a worry that a state of dense matter could be formed that had never been created before. At the time this was the largest particle accelerator to have been built, making gold ions crash head on with immense force. The risk was that this might form a stage that was sufficiently dense to be like a black hole, gathering matter from the outside. Would the Brookhaven labs (and perhaps the entire Earth) end up being swallowed by a black hole created by the new accelerator?
"Using the information we already know from black holes in outer space, we did some calculations to find out if the Brookhaven particle accelerator was capable of forming such a black hole. We are now pretty certain this state of matter won't form at Brookhaven and that the Earth won't be swallowed when these particles collide."
The cynics were wrong, Brookhaven National Laboratory did not suck up the universe, luckily that threat is now checked found theoretical science fiction, we need to move along our trajectory of technological breakthrough and invent control and management of risk, that is how we have beaten so far the ‘Malthusian predictions.’ |
