Kerry did not vote "for the war", he voted to give the president power to use force (if necessary) to disarm Saddam, but made it clear when he voted that Bush had promised to try and work through the UN and to only invade as a last resort.

Nonsense. Several senators, including Byrd and our junior senator, Boxer, knew very well that it was the *last* vote before the war. But Kerry, instead of being the courageous young Kerry that opposed the Vietnam war at enormous risk to himself, this time chose the easy way out.
